EVA has a wide range of applications. The market consumption in China increases year by year, especially in the footwear industry, where it's used in the soles and inner materials of mid-to-high-end travel shoes, hiking boots, slippers, and sandals. It also has broad applications in the new energy sector, such as photovoltaic materials and solar cell adhesives. The following are common applications of EVA.

1. Foamed Shoe Materials

Footwear is the primary application area for EVA resin in China. In EVA resins used in footwear, the vinyl acetate content generally ranges from 15% to 22%. Because EVA resin blend foam products are soft, elastic, and chemically resistant, they are widely used in the soles and inner materials of mid-to-high-end travel shoes, hiking boots, slippers, and sandals. Additionally, this material is used in sound insulation boards, gymnastics mats, and sealing materials.

2. Film
The main use of EVA film is in the production of functional films for greenhouses. Functional greenhouse films have high weather resistance, anti-fogging, and heat preservation properties. Because polyethylene is non-polar, even with the addition of a certain amount of anti-fogging agent, its anti-fogging performance can only last for about 2 months; however, films made with the addition of a certain amount of EVA resin not only have high light transmittance but also significantly improved anti-fogging performance, generally exceeding 4 months. In addition, EVA can also be used to produce packaging films, medical films, laminated films, and cast films.

3. Wires and Cables
With the continuous development of computer and network engineering, and out of consideration for data center safety, people increasingly use halogen-free flame-retardant cables and silane cross-linked cables. Because EVA resin has good filler compatibility and cross-linkability, it is frequently used in halogen-free flame-retardant cables, semiconductor shielded cables, and two-step silane cross-linked cables. In addition, EVA resin is also used to make the sheaths of some special cables. In wires and cables, the vinyl acetate content of the EVA resin generally ranges from 12% to 24%.

4. Toys
EVA resin is also widely used in toys, such as children's car wheels and seat cushions.

5. Hot Melt Adhesive
Hot melt adhesives, with EVA resin as the main component, are solvent-free, environmentally friendly, and relatively safe. They are very suitable for automated assembly line production and are therefore widely used in wireless book binding, furniture edge banding, assembly of automobiles and household appliances, shoemaking, carpet coating, and anti-corrosion coating of metals.

6. Others
EVA resin is also widely used in inks, luggage, and bottle cap gaskets, and it is estimated that these applications consume at least 15 kt of EVA resin.
